HB Process for Tile & Grout Cleaning
Preparation:
Clear the area of any obstacles or furniture.
Sweep or vacuum the floor to remove loose dirt and debris.
Pre-treatment:
Apply a commercial or homemade tile and grout cleaner to the surface. You can find these cleaners at hardware stores or make your own using a mixture of baking soda and water, vinegar and water, or hydrogen peroxide.
Allow the cleaner to sit on the surface for a few minutes to penetrate and loosen dirt and stains.
Scrubbing:
Use a stiff-bristled brush or a scrubbing tool specifically designed for grout cleaning to scrub the tile and grout lines thoroughly.
Pay special attention to heavily soiled or stained areas, and apply extra pressure if necessary.
For particularly stubborn stains, you may need to use a toothbrush or a grout brush for detailed work.
Rinsing:
After scrubbing, thoroughly rinse the tile and grout with clean water to remove the cleaning solution and loosened dirt.
You can use a mop, sponge, or clean cloth for rinsing.
Drying:
Wipe down the surface with a dry towel or cloth to remove excess water.
Allow the tile and grout to air dry completely before walking on it or replacing any furniture.
Sealing (optional):
Consider applying a grout sealer to protect the grout from future stains and moisture penetration. Sealing is especially beneficial for porous grout.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application and drying times.
Maintenance:
Regularly sweep or vacuum the tile floor to prevent dirt and debris from accumulating.
Clean up spills promptly to prevent staining.
Periodically repeat the cleaning process as needed to maintain the appearance of your tile and grout.
